Persicaria amplexicaulis Fat Domino (Bistorta amplexicaulis Fat Domino PBR) 🌺

I’m enjoying the flowers of this Persicaria as much when in bud as when fully open, as you can probably tell from my pics. I do love the leaf shape of a Persicaria (maybe I’m a bit of a romantic at heart, but it is a hard heart that doesn’t love a cordate leaf - a cordate leaf is a leaf in the shape of a heart)

'Fat Domino' is a clump-forming perennial, I’d bought it earlier this year from Farmer Gracy for in my hot bed to extend the season of interest (& seeing as I inherited the weed Redshank with the topsoil I bought from the local builder’s merchant for the raised bed which is a Persicaria & that grows prolifically in there - I have nearly got on top of it now - I thought it would like the conditions).

Fat Domino is described as having deep blood-red flowers, I find them more a crimson red, but they are now, at a time where some others are starting to fade & set seed & the full depth of the autumnal shades has not come into the foreground so I am pleased with it.

I do like a plant that has flowers on slender stems held above the foliage particularly for this border, especially as the seasons are so confused I have a pond behind this border and two water lilies have decided to open again this week, Galliardia Arizona Sun is on its third set of flowering as is Achillia Paprika. I’ve popped a pic on of the hot border at the end as there is still a fair bit of colour coming through from it.

There are still lots of pollinators in the garden this week, 2 hummingbird hawk moths regularly, lots of butterflies & bees; the hedgehog has been the last two nights at least as well getting stocked up.
Well that’s all for today, quick post as I’ve still got 225 bulbs to plant lol 😂

Hope you are all enjoying your gardens
