I bought this Bidens Golden Eye seed from Thompson & Morgan in 2020. It is one of the hardest working plants I have in my garden.
It’s classed as a half hardy perennial, but it really seems to thrive in my well drained sunny border, it has been divided & divided. It’s a prostrate form: the ferny foliage is outstanding in its own right, but the flowers are sunshine itself floating & bouncing in the boarder. I dead head it every few days & it flowers so prolifically from the very beginning of July right through to the end of October.

There are many special things about this plant:
The flowers are edible not only for salads, but they hold their flavour when cooked, so great for pasta, rice, curry dishes & decorating focaccia!
Also, the flowers & leaves a good natural dye plant, so they are useful for flower pounding & general dye techniques.
They say ‘Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder’ - well I certainly think this Bidens Golden Eye is not only beautiful but useful!
I’d love to know your thoughts…

I love plants…hope you’re enjoying my pages, if you are, it would really help if you could:
