I bought a packet of these seeds back in 2020 from Thompson & Morgan for less than half the price of a coffee.

They’re a very easy to grow annual, that every year as they finish flowering I simply bash the dried stalks and seed heads where I will want them to flower the following year!

They flower so prolifically with frilly funnel shaped blooms on racemes off tall spires of about 1m. The leaves are simple so allow all focus to be on the pale pink/peach flowers. These make excellent cut flowers if you are aspiring to the ‘homegrown-not-flown’, & trying to reduce your carbon footprint regarding the importation of cut flowers.

It is so easy to grow, it germinates every year without fail with no effort from me & flowers all summer until the frosts come. You can get them in darker shades of pinks and purples too, I just find this such a useful colour to have in most of my beds to lift them without clashing or taking away any focus from intended colour schemes; it really is a wonderful plant that copes well with being exposed or sheltered, in full sun or partial shade, in moist but well drained conditions.

What is your favourite ‘snap it off, smash it about & scatter the seed’ success in your garden?

When I posted about this on my social pages, that many people have been in contact thanking me for reminding them about Godetia & saying they wanted to go out & buy some as they had forgotten all about it, it is so wonderful to hear from people who share in the same interests. I love plants…hope you’re enjoying my pages, if you are, it would really help if you could:
